Wednesday 2nd July 2025 – After a dreary, rain-soaked afternoon, the skies cleared just in time for a warm and dry evening of pétanque at Norwich Pétanque Club for the annual Andre Conan Melee.
A solid turnout of 21 players took part in the open pairs competition, meaning each round included one dreaded 2 vs. 3 matchup—but spirits remained high throughout. The evening was especially memorable as we welcomed several new players who were inspired to come along after trying pétanque for the first time at our Family Fun Day the previous weekend.
The competition was played over three timed rounds, with winners determined first by number of wins, then by points difference.
🥇 Joint Winners:
Jallal Talbi & Nabil Drissi – 3 wins, +30 points difference
🥈 Second Place:
Simon Doble – 3 wins, +23 points difference
🥉 Third Place:
John Monk – 2 wins, +23 points difference
A big thank you to everyone who played and supported the event. Despite the odd numbers and earlier rain, it turned into a fantastic evening of friendly competition—and a great sign of the continuing growth and energy within the club.
We hope to see even more new faces at future competitions and club nights!
