Norwich Pétanque Club players were in action across two major competitions over the weekend, representing Norfolk in a dramatic county clash against Suffolk Coastal before travelling to Great Ellingham for the opening round of the Anglia Inter-Regional Qualifiers. With superb performances, close matches and plenty of competitive spirit, it was a memorable weekend for the Norwich quartet.

Six juniors are regularly attending Norwich Pétanque Club’s training sessions, with April seeing them receive their new club tops. Two juniors also made their competition debut on 2nd May, winning 2 of 4 games with a +9 points difference. With more events ahead and plans to join Wednesday social nights, the club’s junior section continues to grow.

Norwich Pétanque Club’s Spring Triples saw 12 teams compete in sunny conditions, with four teams tied on three wins and the title decided by points difference. Tom Ralph, Gavin Seymour and Jallal Talbi took victory. A highlight was junior debutants Cody and Bradley impressing with two wins, including a 12–2 victory over the reigning champions.

Norwich Petanque Club congratulates Gavin Seymour, Tom Ralph and Jonathan Gracie on their selection to represent Norfolk against Suffolk Coastal. The trio, fresh from winning Division 2 of the City of Norwich Winter League, will enjoy home advantage at The Cottage on 9th May. Come along and support them!

Norwich Pétanque Club narrowly lost 3–2 to Kettleburgh in a tense Euro Cup 3rd Round clash at The Cottage. After sharing the triples and splitting the doubles, the tie came down to a final match, where Kettleburgh secured victory to progress to the semi-finals.

Norwich Petanque Club was represented at the Anglia IWD Pairs Qualifier in Diss, with Sharon Thorndyke & Liz Read finishing 4th and Lesley Munday gaining valuable experience in her first Anglia event. Ellie Jay & Tricia Hodgkinson retained the title, with Luisa D’Esposito & Teresa Bingham also qualifying for the finals.

Norwich Pétanque Club hosted the Big C Pairs on 28th March, with 12 pairs competing in a cold but sunny day of friendly yet competitive pétanque. An excellent £200 was raised for Big C. Congratulations to winners John Ward & David Riley, with James Shreeve & Jallal Talbi runners-up. Kat Jarvis from Big C presented the trophies.

Norwich Pétanque Club’s inter-club tournament saw five teams compete on a cold evening, with Reds claiming their first title since 2014.
