Successful Launch of AgeUK Pétanque Afternoon at Norwich Pétanque Club

Monday 14th July saw the first of our new monthly AgeUK Pétanque Afternoons take place at Norwich Pétanque Club — and what a fantastic start it was!

We were delighted to welcome 13 participants for a relaxed and sunny afternoon of pétanque at The Cottage. Many of those who came along were completely new to the sport but quickly got the hang of it, enjoying a couple of fun and friendly games in great company.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with most already planning to return for next month’s session. A couple of participants even asked about becoming members and joining our regular Wednesday evening sessions — which is exactly what these afternoons are all about: giving people the chance to get active, meet new friends, and discover how enjoyable pétanque can be.

After the games, everyone enjoyed a complimentary tea or coffee and a chance to sit back, relax, and have a good chat in the sunshine.

A huge thank you goes out to Marion Fitt, Sandra Frosdick, Brian Taylor, Derek Thorndyke, and Sharon Thorndyke for running the session and making everything run so smoothly on the day. Special thanks also to Sharon for all the pre-event work — from managing bookings to ensuring the session was ready to go.
