A cold but dry evening set the stage for a fantastic night of pétanque as all five Norwich teams—Reds, Diamonds, Whites, Greens, and the newly formed Yellows—came together for the latest inter-club tournament.

Play got underway at 19:30, with a format that ensured plenty of variety and competition. The evening began with two rounds of triples per team, before moving into three rounds of doubles. Due to the number of teams, the Yellows played two doubles matches and had a bye in the third round. Across the five games, every team faced each other at least once, creating a well-balanced and competitive event.
There was strong play throughout the night, with several closely contested matches and plenty of great teamwork on display. The Greens pushed hard, finishing in second place with three wins, while the Yellows—in their debut season—put in an impressive performance to secure third place with a positive points difference.

However, it was the Reds who came out on top, winning four of their five matches and finishing with a +14 points difference. This marks a special moment for the team, as it is their first inter-club tournament victory since 2014.
Final standings:
Reds – Won 4, Points Diff +14
Greens – Won 3, Points Diff +4
Yellows – Won 2, Points Diff +6
Whites – Won 2, Points Diff -8
Diamonds – Won 2, Points Diff -15

As always, the evening wasn’t just about the competition. After the final boule was thrown, players headed into The Cottage pub to warm up, enjoy refreshments, and share stories from the night—rounding off another enjoyable and sociable club event.
A great evening all round, with competitive pétanque, a strong showing from all teams, and a well-deserved win for the Reds.
