Thursday 17th April, the Norwich Petanque Club had the pleasure of hosting a very special group — the Rackheath Women’s Institute (W.I.). Under bright and welcoming skies, the ladies arrived ready to give petanque a try, and the morning turned into a great success filled with smiles, camaraderie, and a touch of friendly competition.

The feedback from the group was overwhelmingly positive. One member shared how the experience was “very satisfying,” while another commented, “My back felt a lot easier with playing.” It’s always wonderful to hear how the sport can offer not just enjoyment but also gentle physical benefits.

This memorable morning wouldn’t have been possible without the wonderful suggestion from Sandra Frosdick, who encouraged the W.I. group to explore petanque as a new activity. A big thank you also goes out to Marion Fitt, Lesley Munday, and Sharon Throndyke for their excellent organisation and smooth running of the session. Their dedication ensured everyone had an enjoyable and relaxed introduction to the game.
