Norman Guest Pairs Raises £193 for MNDA

Norwich Pétanque Club welcomed 14 teams on Saturday 5th September for this year’s Norman Guest Pairs, with a great afternoon of pétanque helping to raise £193 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).
The competition was closely fought, with five teams finishing the day with three wins, meaning points difference was needed to decide the final standings.

Taking the Norman Guest Pairs title were Ros Taylor and Richard Green, who finished with an impressive three wins and +19 points difference.

Just behind them were Lorraine Diston and Jan Heggarty, who secured the runners-up spot with three wins and +17. It was an especially memorable result for the pair, as it marked the first pétanque trophy for both Lorraine and Jan — a fantastic achievement and hopefully the first of many!
The remaining teams finishing on three wins showed just how competitive the day had been:
Jimmy Howe & Spencer – 3 wins, +12
Bob Cole & Brian Taylor – 3 wins, +10
Allen Kemp & Richard Jeffery – 3 wins, +4
While there was plenty of competition on the terrains, the most important result of the day was the fantastic £123 raised for MNDA. A huge thank you goes to everyone who entered and helped support such a worthwhile cause.

The club would also like to give a special thank you to Sharon, Hedley and Lesley for giving up their time to run the competition, and to Graeme and Karen for arriving early to help get everything set up and ready for the players.
Finally, congratulations to Ros and Richard on taking the title, Lorraine and Jan on their runners-up finish and first-ever pétanque trophies, and to everyone who helped make another Norman Guest Pairs an enjoyable and successful day at Norwich Pétanque Club.
