02/08/2025 – Norwich Petanque Club, Kath Watts Charity Pairs

The sun was shining and the boules were rolling as Norwich Petanque Club hosted the Kath Watts Charity Pairs competition on Saturday, raising £242 in support of East Anglia Children’s Hospices (E.A.C.H.).
With 14 teams entered, this year’s turnout marked the club’s biggest since before 2020 — a fantastic show of support for both the sport and a very worthy cause.

It was a tightly contested day, with the top three teams all finishing with the same number of wins.

In the end, Jim Lovett and Brian Taylor clinched the title by the narrowest of margins — winning the competition by just 2 points difference.

Richard Jeffery and Allen Kemp were close behind as worthy runners-up.

A huge thank you to Hedley Watts and Sharon Thorndyke for expertly running the competition, Lesley Munday and Ally Burrows for organising a fantastic raffle, and Derek Thorndyke for getting the pistes into pristine condition ahead of play.
Well done to all who took part — and thank you for helping us make a difference. See you on the piste again soon!
