Norwich Pétanque Club enjoyed a brilliant day on Saturday 6th September, as 13 teams came together for one of our best-attended competitions in recent years. The sunshine provided the perfect backdrop for four timed games, with a wonderful mix of players taking part. It was especially nice to welcome back familiar faces from the Bob Carter Centre, St Faiths Club and Suffolk, alongside some new players who have recently joined our AgeUK sessions. A warm welcome to you all – we hope to see you again soon!

After some closely fought matches, the honours went to Simon Doble and Stephen Welford, the only pair to win all four of their games – a well-deserved victory!
Personally, I had coaching as a junior from Norman back in the 80s so for me this is always a great competition to support.

Marty and Jim Howe finished as runners-up with three wins and an impressive points difference of +20.
The competition was also played in support of the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA), and thanks to the generosity of players and supporters, we are delighted to announce that £207 was raised for this vital cause.
A huge thank you goes to Hedley Watts, Sharon Thorndyke, Derek Thorndyke and Alan Crabtree for their time and effort insetting up & running the event so smoothly. Their support ensured that everyone enjoyed a fantastic day of pétanque, friendly rivalry and fundraising.
