Twelve determined ladies from across Norfolk and Suffolk gathered at Norwich Petanque Club on Saturday afternoon, 4th October, for a spirited melee-format competition – undeterred by the blustery conditions brought on by Storm Amy.

Despite the windy conditions making playing conditions far from ideal, the competitors pressed on with great resilience and camaraderie, each playing four games throughout the afternoon. The challenging weather only seemed to highlight the players' enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

After a tightly contested afternoon, Pat Howe emerged victorious as the overall winner,

with Rachael Bergstrom taking a well-earned runner-up spot.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Gavin Seymour and Lesley Munday for their fantastic job running the competition smoothly from start to finish. Special thanks also to Tom Ralph, who arrived early to help prepare the terrain—heroically clearing nuts and leaves blown in by the storm to ensure the pistes were safe and playable.
It was a true testament to the spirit of the game and the community, proving that a bit of wild weather can’t stop a great afternoon of pétanque!
