It has been a while since the last newsletter, so lots to catch up on.

NEXT CLUB EVENT - CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP AND SOCIAL

Come and take part in this important event to crown our overall Club Champion for 2015. This event is open to all Club members and is followed by our Summer Social buffet in the Cottage.

Pre-registration is essential. Please register via the Secretary asap. All registrations must be accompanied by the fee and the last date for registration is Sunday 10h May.

Event Date: Saturday 16th May

Time: 1pm for 1.30pm start

Format: Four timed games of Melee pairs

Cost: £6.50 per person

Tournament followed by buffet at 5pm

QUIZ & CHILLI EVENING

Winning team Who Nose

BIG C CHARITY PAIRS

Congratulations to all those who took part and made the Quiz & Chilli evening a very competitive event, with the scores very close between the first 5 teams.

The overall winners were Who Nose, captained by Alan Crabtree, with Sue Crabtree, John Aston and Celia Young completing the team. In second place just 2 points behind were No Idea, captained by Robert Cleaver.

Fifteen pairs contested this tournament this year, a little down on last year's record turnout. Nevertheless a good afternoon's competition took place, with Michael Neal and Daniel Cooper from Suffolk the eventual winners, with Ashley and Owen Sayer in 2nd place.

The event made £202 for Big C.

PRE -SEASON TOURNAMENT

Action from the Pre-season tournament

It was good to see the whole club turning out for our traditional pre-season curtain-raiser where each team plays the other for the top honours. This year the Blues came out on top, with 4 wins and +23, with Reds in second position on 4 wins and +18.

ONGOING SUMMER EVENTS

CLUB LADIES & GENTS SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP

All the scorecards for the Group stages of this tournament have now been distributed, so hopefully you will all be in process of arranging your individual group games. Indeed we've seen a number of games already taking place this week at the terrain, so some competitors are clearly keen to get their Group games under way! Please return your scorecards to the Secretary as soon as your group games are completed.

SUMMER MELEE

We have now completed 4 weeks of the Summer Melee, with 29 competitors already in the running. The first standings table will be published towards the end of May when we have a few people with the required minimum 6 games completed to qualify in the reckoning. Come and join in on any Wednesday Club Night to take part. The Melee game is played at 8pm.
