Just because it is Winter does not mean that there is nothing going on at the Petanque Club, so here is all the latest news.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Come and blow away some of the Christmas cobwebs at our Christmas Cracker Melee Pairs Tournament which takes place on Sunday 27th December.
Registration 10 am for a 10.30 am start.
Entry fee just £1 plus a small wrapped gift for the lucky dip for all competitors to draw after the game.
Playing 3 x timed games.
Entry fees awarded as prizes for 1st and 2nd placed players.
Derek Glanville has won both of our first two Winter money Melee events, so why not come along to our next one and we'll try and give Derek a bit more competition!

PRE-SEASON MEETING
This important meeting takes place on THURSDAY 28TH JANUARY 2016 at 8pm in the function room at The Cottage.
This is an informal meeting where all the fees for the following season are collected. These include:
Club and County membership fees: £20 for the 2016 season (£1 increase on 2015). Juniors £5.
Summer League Team registrations for the new season. (Please note that any person registered for a Norwich team is expected to be a Norwich Club member.)
Entries and food orders for the Quiz & Chilli Evening (further details below) - £7 per person.
If you are unable to attend please ensure that your Team Captain has your Club and county membership fees to bring to the meeting.
If you are not currently in a team but would like to be, please contact me on 01603 701023.
If you do not wish to play League you will still need to pay the full membership fee. Please ensure that your fees get to either myself or Hedley Watts before the meeting.
Please make all cheques payable to Norwich Petanque Club.
We are again holding our Quiz & Chilli evening in early 2016 following an indication at the AGM that a number of members are interested in entering teams.
Date: Thursday 10th March 2016.
Venue: The function room at The Cottage.
Start time: 7 pm sharp.
Teams: of 4 persons max please, at least one of which must be a Club member, but otherwise family and friends are very welcome to join us.
Cost: £7 per person. Team entries and food orders must be made in advance and returned to Heather Hubbard complete with payment (cheques only please) by the date of the Pre-season meeting (28th Jan 2016). An entry slip/food order is attached to this newsletter.
We will also be holding a raffle, so please bring along anything suitable on the night.
We look forward to seeing lots of you there on the night for a bit of friendly competition!
EXTERNAL PETANQUE EVENTS
There are a couple of external events that members might be interested in – both of which the Club has organised trips to before.
JERSEY PETANQUE OPEN
In brief, the event is the weekend Saturday 30th April/Sunday 1st May, but competitors would need to be there from Friday 29th April and there is a further triples competition on Monday 2nd May. Full details are attached.
We have obtained an initial estimate of costs of either:
£199 to include ferry and 4 nights bed & breakfast accommodation
£279 to include flights from Luton and 4 nights bed and breakfast accommodation.
Neither of these estimates include the cost of any transport to/from the mainland departure point or any internal transport within Jersey. These can only be costed with an idea of numbers who might be travelling.
ISLE OF WIGHT TOURS FUN PETANQUE TOURNAMENTS
Isle of Wight Tours are again running two separate fun tournaments in 2016, either:
Monday 4th to Friday 8th July 2016, cost £235 at the South downs Holiday Centre, Bracklesham Bay, or
Friday 14th to Monday 17th October, cost £185, at the Ocean View Hotel, Shanklin.
Costs on both of these include coach travel from Norwich. See attached poster for further details.
WE WILL ONLY GO AHEAD WITH ORGANISING ANY GROUP TRIP TO THE ABOVE EVENTS IF NUMBERS MAKE IT VIABLE SO PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.

At the recent AGM Alan Moss was elected as Terrain Manager. We welcome Alan to the Committee and trust that members will give Alan their valuable support when any maintenance needs carrying out on the terrain.
