Coronavirus (COVID-19) and New Piste Booking System
In line with Pétanque England, Anglia Pétanque Association and Norfolk County Pétanque Association our committee has decided to suspend all Norwich Pétanque Club competitions until further notice.
With the Government & Petanque England updating their guidelines, we feel it is time to update ours. Do not leave your home to play pétanque if Government advice means you should stay at home because you or someone you live with has or has had symptoms of COVID-19, or you are in the most vulnerable category and have been advised to shield from the coronavirus.
Additionally, there are a number of groups - those over 70, those with specific pre-existing conditions and pregnant women – who continue to be advised to minimise contact with others. We believe that playing pétanque does not minimise that contact, and we recommend that players in those categories should not play until restrictions are eased further.
Given the latest Government advice and to ensure that safety is our number one
priority, our advice to our members that choose to play from Monday 1st June 2020 is to follow the good practice guidance set out below.
We have sectioned out the terrain into 4 playable areas with a 2m space in between (see below) to help aid with social distancing. Also due to the width of the playing area being 6m wide we will need to restrict games to doubles or singles, due to there not being enough space to social distance and play triples.
To allow for everyone who would like to play to be able to play we will be doing a booking system of 90min slots from 10:30 – 21:00 - book below.
At the moment and until further notice there will be no pub facilities which means that there are no toilets available.
We also ask currently that you refrain from using the equipment in the shed. And only touch your own equipment.
