We were thrilled to see our biggest turnout since Covid — a great sign of how much enthusiasm there is for playing and competing at Norwich Pétanque Club.
After a week of mixed weather reports (including forecasts of thunderstorms!), we were very fortunate on the day, with just one light shower and plenty of dry spells to enjoy some great games on the piste.
Competition Format
The competition was run over four timed games, with the winners decided by number of wins followed by points difference — always a great format to keep the day moving and everyone engaged.

Congratulations to our winners — fantastic performances!
Thank You to Our Volunteers
A competition like this can only run smoothly with the support of volunteers, and we’d like to say a huge thank you to those who made today’s event possible:
Gavin Seymour — for setting up all of the terrains ahead of the competition
Ali Burrows & Alan Crabtree — for organising and running the raffle
Lesley Munday & Sharon Thorndyke — for handling all of the competition admin on the day
Without the help of dedicated volunteers like these, our competitions wouldn’t be as successful or enjoyable — thank you all!
Finally, a big thank you to everyone who entered and played — it was a fantastic day of pétanque and a great atmosphere all round. We’re already looking forward to next year’s Gold Cup!
