THE NEWSLETTER OF NORWICH PĖTANQUE CLUB
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP AND SOCIAL
We were extremely lucky with the weather for our recent Club Singles tournament, with the sun shining on us for the afternoon of the event. The numbers taking part may have been affected a bit by a certain inconsiderate football team playing one of their biggest games of the year against a certain near rival team (ie: the Norwich v Ipswich semi-final), but nevertheless we all enjoyed a very good afternoon, with further Club members and guests joining us for the buffet following the event.
Congratulations to the overall winner and our Club champion for the second year running, Enzo Diprata, with 4 wins and +29. Jackie Knowles was in 2nd place on 3 wins +20 and Ryan Spalding 3rd on 3 wins +16.
Many thanks to all those who took part and made the day a success. There are more photos of the event on the Club website.

Congratulations to Tony Brenchley who as at 20th May had played and won all 8 of his melee games and is currently in the lead on +50. The full current standings are attached so you can all see how you are doing. As the melee continues to the end of September there is still plenty of time for things to change! You only need to complete 6 games to qualify.
One feature this year has been the number of brand new players coming up on a Wednesday night to try out the sport, then subsequently joining the Club. Our thanks are due to Club members who take the time to make new people welcome, spending time telling them about the game and the Club and then including them in our melee games.
CLUB LADIES & GENTS SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP
It has been great to see that so many members are taking part in our new format for this event this year and making the effort to get their singles Group games arranged.
One or two scorecards have already been returned and there is now an envelope in the Club shed to deposit your completed scorecard if you are not able to get them to the Secretary in person.
We have the Gold Cup Pairs coming up on Saturday 13th June. Registration is 1pm for a 1.30pm start. The format is for fixed pairs playing 4 timed games over the afternoon. There will also be a raffle in aid of Club funds. We look forward to seeing lots of you there.
Please don't forget to advise the Secretary if you change address, phone number or email address so that Club contact records can be kept up to date and you do not miss out on any of the latest news updates.
FUNDRAISING MONTHLY DRAW
Just a reminder that the Club Monthly Sweepstake contributes valuable funds for the Club and there is always room for more members to take part. The more participants, the higher the winnings! Cost is £1 per month with all monthly receipts divided up between 1st and 2nd draw winners and the Club. This support is a valuable addition to Club funds and you also have the opportunity to win a little bit of cash for yourself. Contact Colin Debbage (01603 720990), or the Secretary, for details of how to take part.
